SDG 5: Gender Equality – University Policy
The University of Biskra is committed to promoting Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by fostering an inclusive academic environment that ensures equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender. The institution recognizes gender equality as a fundamental principle for achieving social justice and sustainable development.
To support this objective, the university guarantees equal access to education, academic programs, and campus resources for both male and female students. Admission policies and academic regulations are designed to be fair and non-discriminatory, ensuring that all students can pursue their studies under equal conditions.
The University of Biskra also encourages the active participation of women in academic and professional life, supporting their involvement in research, leadership roles, and decision-making processes. Efforts are made to promote gender balance among teaching staff, administrative positions, and student representation bodies.
In addition, the university promotes awareness and prevention of gender-based discrimination and harassment through institutional policies and educational initiatives. A respectful and safe campus environment is maintained to protect the rights and dignity of all members of the university community.
Furthermore, the institution supports women’s empowerment by encouraging female students to engage in scientific, technical, and leadership fields, particularly in disciplines where they are traditionally underrepresented. Workshops, seminars, and mentoring activities are organized to strengthen their confidence and professional development.
Through these actions, the University of Biskra demonstrates its commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society in alignment with SDG 5.
