SDG 13: Climate Action – University Policy
The University of Biskra is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) by implementing measures to mitigate climate change and enhance environmental sustainability. The institution recognizes the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in the context of high energy demand associated with the local climate.
To achieve this, the university promotes energy efficiency and responsible consumption, while encouraging the integration of renewable energy solutions, particularly solar energy. In addition, the institution supports the development of carbon footprint assessments to better understand and manage its environmental impact.
The University of Biskra also plays an active role in climate-related research and education, focusing on topics such as climate adaptation, water scarcity, and sustainable resource management in arid environments. Awareness initiatives are conducted to encourage environmentally responsible behavior among students and staff.
Through these actions, the university contributes to climate change mitigation and adaptation, aligning its policies with the objectives of SDG 13.
