On 12 June 2025, the faculty organised a study day on plastic pollution, in collaboration
with the Environment Directorate of Biskra State and BERLab.

Those attended were the University Rector, Pr Mahmoud Debabeche, the State Inspector General, the Environment
Director, local and security authorities representatives, and the university community
members, including officials, administrators, teachers, and staff. They emphasised the
importance of adopting an integrated approach to waste management to improve life quality
and achieve sustainable local development. The programme included performances to raise
awareness by the children of the ‘Genius Chicks’ kindergarten, scientific lectures and an
environmental exhibition, with participations from local associations, scouts, primary schools
and specialist doctors.
