Commemorating 16 April Science Day, Biskra University Humanities and Social Sciences
Faculty, with the Humanities Department organised a national historical seminar entitled "16
April in the national memory”; on 15 April 2025, run by Pr Freih Lekhmissi, with local and
national university specialised teachers. In her opening speech, Prof. Maghnia Ghardaien, the
Humanities Faculty Head, stressed the historical events reviving to raise students' awareness
to key milestones in the nation's history, for values and identity.

Then, Pr. Messaoud Karboua, the Faculty Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Vice- dean, praised the organising
faculty's teachers and announced the seminar start, marked by several interventions
highlighting the pioneering role of the Algerian Association of Muslim Scholars in preserving
the national identity and resisting colonialism. Colonel Chaabani Regional Museum through a
special historical exhibition and a valuable intervention participated with its director, Mr
Kamal Faria, recalling the national struggle and the exploits of the Ulema Society symbols.
The symposium was to recall the Science Day symbolism to deepen awareness of the nation's
heritage and its struggles for freedom.
