International Women’s Day celebration at Biskra University

Biskra University celebrated the yearly 8 March International Women’s Day, on 9 March, by
welcoming the University female members with flowers, in coordination with the Social
Services Committee, a ceremony in honour of its female employees, workers and teachers, in
the presence of various segments of the University community, led by the University Rector,


Mr. Mahmoud Debabeche. In his statement, the Rector congratulated women of this academic
institution, praising their pioneering role in development and their effective contribution to
building the present and the future. He also recalled their struggles for freedom and dignity,
stressing that this day is not a mere celebration but a renewed opportunity to recognise their
efforts to raising the status of the University and taking it to advanced positions at the national
and international levels. He also praised their success in various University roles and
functions, despite the challenges they face, and urged them to continue their efforts and work
with a spirit of perseverance and dedication to contribute to the further progress and
prosperity. For his part, the Social Services Committee Chairman, Mr Azzouz Miloud,
expressed his sincere congratulations to the University women, for their pioneering role in the
process of development and progress. He also expressed his deep gratitude to the Rector and
the Secretary General, Mr Hakim Henano, for their continuous support to the Social Services
Committee, by strengthening its role to achieve its objectives in serving the University
community. Finally, in celebration of this day, they honoured female teachers, employees and
cleaners from different departments in the presence of the University Rector with the
institution managers and officials. They also honoured Pr. Vera Mikhailova for her valuable
efforts in teaching Russian culture and language at Biskra University CEIL. The ceremony
ended with the announcement of the lottery results, where the winners received their gifts in a
festive atmosphere.
