On 8th December 2024, Biskra University multi-sports hall hosted the start of the South
Region University Sports Qualifiers attended by the University Rector, Pr Mahmoud
Debabeche, and a number of university administrators and officials.

The event, organised jointly with the committee for the promotion of university sports, will see the participation of
sports teams from several university towns, including Biskra, El Oued, Illizi and Ouargla. The
competition will run until 12 December 2024 and includes football, volleyball, basketball and
handball, and expects great competition between teams to promote universities sportsmanship
and develop sports practices. The event reflects a means of promoting cultural and sporting
interaction among students.
