Marhaba Day to Welcome International Students

IMG 0808 (1)Biskra University organised, on 14 November 2024, the "Marhaba Day"; to welcome the new
international students in a fraternity atmosphere. Led by the University Rector, Mr Mahmoud
Debabeche, the Secretary General, Vice-rectors, Faculties’ Deans,

University Services Directors, Vice-deans, Departments’ Heads and various officials, they expressed pride in the
international students in supporting their academic career. In his opening statement, the
Rector welcomed and expressed his pleasure at the presence of international students from
Palestine, Mauritania, Tunisia, Yemen, Western Sahara, Chad, Niger, Mali, Cameroon and
Burundi and forthcoming students from Iraq and China and praised their role to enrich the
University academic family. He emphasised that the University will always be a support for
them and be open to their concerns and ensure full integration.
In his turn, the Vice-rector for External Relations and Cooperation, Pr. Safieddine Ounis,
displayed the facilities and services offered by the University. He stressed on an inclusive
learning environment for integration. University officials and the International Students
Office Head, Ms Djamila Ben Arab, provided information about the facilities and services
available, to support international students in all aspects of their academic and personal lives.
Biskra University Services organised a lunch in honour of the international students, creating
a warm and friendly and family atmosphere. The students watched a historical film about the
Algerian Liberation Revolution, to introduce them to the history of Algeria. At the end of the
ceremony, the university administration presented symbolic gifts to the international students
in recognition of their role in enriching the academic and cultural life of the university.
